Crime-fighters in Uitsig have called for intervention into the gang violence which has resulted in 10 murders in just one month.
This follows yet another gang fight at the weekend in which four skollies were gunned down.
According to a resident, on Friday night a group of skollies attacked another group sitting in a parked car.
“It was just after 8pm and we just heard a whole lot of shots. There were five gangsters sitting in a car at Uitsig High School when the other skollies came and started shooting.
“The three at the back started running and one of them was dead inside the car. I don’t know what car that it is, but the other one [person] was bleeding and they took him to the hospital.”
Lt-Colonel André Traut says the shooting occurred in Jacaranda Avenue at 8.20pm.
On Saturday morning, residents gathered on an open field behind the school where the bodies of two men were discovered.
“Those are the two guys who ran away [on Friday] night, it looks like they died on the field after being shot. The last person is still missing,” the resident added.
Blue Downs Cluster Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Reginald Maart, says a total of 10 people have been killed in just one month.
He said they will work with police to help find solutions.
