Police are looking for brazen diewe who robbed a well-known retail store in Kraaifontein.
Early on Friday, skelms raided Pep Stores at the Bloch Centre in Van Riebeeck Road, getting away with cellphones worth R90 000.
The four armed robbers fled with their loot after hitting the store’s security guard in the head.
A witness says the robbery happened just before 11am.
“They hit the guard over his head, unconscious. I stood by the Rasta’s herb stall when it all went down,” he says.
“They were loaded down with bags when they came running out of the store.
“An off-duty police officer raised the alarm. One of the robbers still forgot his glove and the officer covered it with a metal bowl for the forensics people.
“One of the cashiers is pregnant and fainted and they rushed her to the day hospital.
“The robbers came out with guns and we maar pretended we didn’t see them. They got away in two cars parked near the store.”
Police spokesman, Captain FC van Wyk, confirms the incident.
There were no arrests.
He says the four armed skelms threatened the staff and took them to the back of the shop.
“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cellphones and fled. No shots were fired.”
