Two bin scratchers in Kalkfontein in Kuils River got a skrik after finding the bloody body of a newborn baby in a bin in Sikelela Street on Thursday morning.
A 22-year old man at the scene said: “The bin scratchers got a big fright when they saw the poor baby, they went to call a man on the other side of the road for help.
“The woman was scratching and found a pile of lappies but the baby was wrapped in it.
“There was a lot of blood and it was a fully developed baby boy.
“We don’t know who the mother is because no one in this street was pregnant.”
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed: “A death inquest case has been opened for investigation by Kuilsriver police subsequent to the discovery of a newborn baby in a bin.
“According to information a witness was scratching in the bin when she made the discovery.
“The baby was declared dead on the scene.
