A Delft learner, who complained about being bullied at school, was again beaten up by her alleged bully on Tuesday.
The Grade 8 learner from Simunye High was on her way home when she was assaulted two metres from the school.
A relative spoke on the teen’s behalf saying she was too traumatised to speak.
She says the alleged bully, who is also in Grade 8, swore at the girl and threatened to hit her.
“The attacker then grabbed and punched her with a fist, every finger had rings on it which caused the bruises to her face,” says the relative.
According to the J88 form, the learner has a concussion.
“Her lip is split open on the inside, her forehead has swelling all over, there are scratches on her neck and she has a blue eye,” says the relative.
While her mother went to see the school principal on Thursday, the meisie was home alone and suffered a panic attack.
She has since refused to return to school and begged her mother to place her in another school.
“She didn’t want to be there since the start, it’s just a pity this happened now when exams are starting,” says her mother.
“I’m deeply hurt by what happened to my child, she wasn’t raised in a violent home so she doesn’t know this. We want the school and WCED to intervene because that child clearly needs psychological help.”
WCED spokesperson, Millicent Merton, confirms they are aware of the incident.
“The learner who was assaulted was taken home by a senior educator,” Merton says.
“A meeting has been scheduled with the parents of both learners.”
