Not only do they want to collect blankets, but Pastor Oscar Bougardt of Calvary Hope Ministries in Strandfontein, and Pastor Neil Pienaar, who also owns a funeral business, will be giving 100 homeless people a free funeral policy.
They are hoping to collect 500 komberse by the end of June.
On 1 July, Bougardt and his congregation will be handing out the blankets to mense living on the street oppie Cape Flats.
Last year Bougardt collected 10 000 loaves of bread to feed hungry children, with his campaign “War on Hunger”.
“Each year we visit the informal settlements and feed them. This year we want to feed and keep homeless people warm,” the holy man tells the Daily Voice.
“We want to collect between 250 and 500 blankets. On 1 July, we want to give each one a hot meal and a warm blanket.”
Bougardt says at the same time they will also be giving 100 homeless mense a free funeral policy, which will cover a basic coffin and hearse, a wreath, a family car and mats.
“We will be selecting 100 homeless persons and give them a free funeral policy. We might even do the funeral service for them, if they wish.”
Bougardt says new and second-hand blankets will be accepted. To donate a blanket call Pastor Bougardt on
