DIE party is uit for Manenberg’s illegal “gang-organised” street bashes.
Cops have issued a stern warning to gang leaders declaring a zero-tolerance policy on jolle in the streets, where drugs and violence are rife.
Station commander Brigadier Jayce Naidoo confronted the gang bosses on 28 May regarding their continuous lawless behaviour and to can a planned “End of May Month bash” street bash.
Spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett wyses: “Illegal street parties are a breeding ground for death and destruction.
“Our youth are being violated and introduced to substance abuse, while the adult community watches. This behaviour will no longer be tolerated.
“During the engagement a strict and stern warning was issued against these lawless events. Manenberg SAPS emphasises that these gatherings are illegal and directly contribute to heightened gang conflict...”
Bennett further said that these lawless actions have been going on for years.
These total free-for-all parties with slogans such as “kom gie jou body a pap tyd” would see irresponsible behaviour and result in moorde, which has happened before.
Gang bosses have reportedly agreed to cancel the parties to ensure the safety of the communities by going through the legal process of applying through the City to host such events.
Bennett adds: “Additional police resources [are] on standby to shut down any illegal street parties. SAPS Manenberg calls upon the community to report all illegal gang activities.”
