Two men gunned down in Lotus River drive-by shooting

TWO men were shot dead in a late-night shooting in Lotus River, leaving the community shaken as cops probe whether gang activity played a role.

The shooting happened on Sunday night in Simon Road, where both victims were found with gunshot wounds and declared dead on the scene, with reports suggesting that one of the deceased was an alleged skollie.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said that Grassy Park detectives are investigating two counts of murder following the shooting incident.

Twigg reported: “Grassy Park police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Sunday night, 8 February 2026, at about 9.25pm in Simon Road, Lotus River.

“Upon arrival on the scene, they found two males who sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies. Both males aged 35 and 36 were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made yet. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation.”

Grassy Park Community Policing (CPF) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Howard Downes said that the community should come forward with any information that can assist.

Downes said: “We will be addressing the community and we will be going into the areas very soon as we have school interventions planned and community outreaches with regards to gang violence and drugs in the community.”
