The search is on for a Manenberg mom who vanished without a trace from her home last week.
The worried family of Janap Fortune, 46, says they are confused by her disappearance after she was last seen at her home in Twister Road.
Son Zaheer Brown, 24, says he last saw his mother on Wednesday morning when he left for work.
“On Wednesday I left home to go to work and that was the last I saw her. Later in the day my aunty told me my mom was missing and I rushed home.
“It was strange because she doesnt work and is a stay at home mom. We found that her cellphone was missing but it did not look like she planned to leave because she didn’t take clothes or anything like that.”
Zaheer says he reported his mother missing and so far they have been unable to find her.
“She doesn’t suffer from any mental illness and there was no argument or something or reason for her to leave the house so we are very worried that something may have happened to her,” he adds.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, confirms a missing persons docket has been opened.
“This office can confirm that the disappearance of a 46-year-old female was reported at Manenberg SAPS. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.”
At the time of her disappearance, Janap was wearing light-blue jeans and a blue shirt.
