A Kraaifontein man accused of viciously stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death has been sent back to the mang after his bail hearing was postponed on Friday.
Clyde Jones, 29, made his second appearance at the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court as angry aunties protested for his bail to be denied.
Jones is accused of murdering young mom Ruchian Lawak in front of their two-year-old daughter during a jealous rage.
Ruchian, 28, was found with multiple knife wounds in the doorway of her Scottsdene rental estate home on 29 September.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that there were issues with Jones’ address and the hearing was postponed to 22 October.
Sister Iderick, 33, says the family was devastated by Ruchian’s death.
“He was abusive and they were broken up since last year.
“They only lived at the same property for the sake of their daughter,” she says.
“She didn’t have a protection order and it was something we always tried to motivate for, but everything she did was for her daughter as the child is very attached to both of them.”
She says her sister was laid to rest last week while her daughter is struggling with her death.
“She is suffering from separation anxiety and keeps asking for her mommy.
“Ruchian was a lovely people’s person and even her colleagues are heartbroken.
“She worked as the front house manager at Virgin Active in Durbanville and so many people have expressed their shock at what has happened,” adds Iderick.
The sister also revealed that investigators have retrieved text messages from Ruchian’s phone, which will be used as evidence in the bail hearing.
“He threatened her, we know that he sent her lots of messages so they are preparing that for the hearing.”
