Local non-profit organisation Thinking Empire 4 Kids has embarked on a new project to establish a library at a Mitchells Plain primary school in honour of their late principal Cedric Anyster.
Thinking Empire 4 Kids provides positive exposure workshops using life coaching techniques to children at primary school level.
Anyster was the palie at Hyacinth Primary School and passed away on 22 December due to a heart attack.
CEO of Thinking Empire 4 Kids Nino Arendse said the library was a dream of Anyster’s and they are honouring him by going ahead with the project.
“This was one of the visions that Mr. Anyster had for Hyacinth Primary. He always said ‘not everyone has a smartphone to access Google’.
“In order to make this vision a reality, the team needs book donations.
“We've been operating at partner schools in the Mitchells Plain area for the past seven years.
“Hyacinth Primary School is one of our partners.
“This vision aligns with our values of child and youth empowerment.
“We've started our campaign last week and thus far have collected over 200 books from various donors towards our library project.”
He says one of the classrooms will be converted into a library.
“We are not building an actual building, rather we will be leveraging existing space and setting up a collection of books for use by all learners from the school. Currently there is no library.”
If you have any books or resources you would like to donate, new or second hand, please contact Nino Arendse on WhatsApp 071 189 1280 or call 066 238 7368 or email [email protected].
