Celebrity home cook Fatima Sydow has released a new cookbook as she battles with cancer.
Her third book, titled Fatima Sydow Cooks, will be launched on Thursday and fans are in for a lekker treat with all the new recipes.
Fatima managed to compile her latest book while completing her last round of chemo treatment.
The bubbly cook was diagnosed with cancer last year after doctors found a tumour under her left foot.
The 46-year-old is famous for her cooking show on Via, DStv 147, called Kaap, Kerrie & Koesisters, alongside her twin sister Gadija Sydow-Nordien.
Gadija says Fatima has been courageous throughout the process.
“I speak to her every day, either via video call or I go to her. One thing for sure, this has been a challenging time for her. She is so brave,. I’m immensely proud of her. She is a fighter,” she says.
Gadija adds: “I’m so proud of Fatima, despite her battle with cancer, she rose above it all and made this book possible.”
Fatima is currently undergoing radiation treatment.
Talking about her latest offering, she said: “This book is a dream come true. It has provided me with wonderful opportunities - from the people I’ve met and the memories I’ve made to the recipes I’ve shared, my heart is full.”
In a Facebook post about her book, Fatima also wrote: “We worked hard to make this dream come true, I have an amazing team that works with me. Here is to many more. This book I dedicate to all of you... Love you all so much.”

Publisher Human & Rousseau said in a statement: “Fatima Sydow is the Cape Malay cooking queen! In Fatima Sydow Cooks she is back, to share easy, accessible recipes, her fondest food memories and a few surprises.
“Think mussel curry and freshly baked bread to mop up the creamy sauce, slow braised short ribs that fall off the bone, a real deal masala steak sandwich, and an oxtail so hearty you’ll go back for seconds, and thirds.”
The book has over 90 recipes and costs R360. You can order via the website www.fatimasydow.co.za.
