The Western Cape Department of Health has confirmed that the Mitchells Plain Community Health Centre will officially re-open for services on Monday, 16 September.
The hospital had been closed over the weekend for health and safety inspections and cleaning following a devastating fire that destroyed the day theatre area of the facility on Friday afternoon.
All patients and staff were evacuated when the fire broke out at 12:30pm.
In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, the department said services will continue as normal, "but we request all clients to please be patient with our staff to ensure a smooth and successful service after the tragic incident."
Meanwhile second fire broke out at Tyberberg hospital on the same day causing minor damage.
Western Cape Health spokesperson, Mark van der Heever said all patients and staff on the relevant floors were safely evacuated and will return to their wards once the smoke had been cleared and it is safe to return.
