There were smiles and even tears of joy on Friday in Valhalla Park when the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Malusi Booi,
officially opened a new social housing site in the area.
Booi cut the ribbon and
celebrated the start of the Valhalla Park Housing Project along Valhalla Drive whereby 777 families will be receiving brand new homes.
Nine companies are
currently contracted to work on the site, including Glomix
Housebrokers CC which is owned by Nicole Stanfield, the wife of suspected 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield.

In March this year, the ANC slammed the DA-run City of Cape for awarding the multi-million rand contract to Nicole.
ANC Western Cape
secretary Faiez Jacobs said: “We are shocked and outraged that the City of Cape Town has awarded a multi-million rand contract to the wife of gang leader, Ralph Stanfield, to build houses in Valhalla Park.
“We see this as further
evidence of the cosy
relationship between the DA and the underworld.”
However, the Western Cape Provincial Government said Nicole’s company, Glomix Housebrokers CC, was cleared by three national government entities including SARS.
Nicole was present at the opening ceremony on Friday.
A Valhalla Park resident, who did not want to be named, said the project is long overdue.
“I have been struggling to find work for over a year. With this project, people from our area are being employed. I have children and a family to look after.
“Basically, I will be building my own house and I am excited about it because our lives are going to change,” the resident said.
Booi said if all goes
according to plan, building will
commence in December.
