A sick oupa was arrested in Ocean View on Friday after allegedly having sex with a dog.
The dog owner, 35, says she walked in on her mother’s 66-year-old berk engaging in sexual intercourse with the family dog on his bed.
She immediately called the cops and the suspect was arrested.
It also emerged that the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the dog owner when she was a little girl.
SAPS’ Joseph Swartbooi confirms: “A 66-year-old man has been arrested after the complainant reported the matter on Friday.
“According to reports, the complainant arrived home and looked for her dog.
“She found the dog in another room, with a man known to her, lying on top of the dog.
“The dog jumped out (from under the man) and the man dressed himself.
“The dog has since been removed and placed in an animal shelter for safekeeping.”
The woman says her three-year-old hondjie was traumatised and was so badly injured that it required veterinary care.
“My mother’s boyfriend did this to her,” she says.
“He damaged my dog and she now needs special care to heal at the SPCA.
“When I walked in, I saw him on top of her and I screamed for my mother but she wasn’t home.
“The dog ran out immediately and she was traumatised and afraid, but she was never afraid of him before, she was used to everyone in the house.”
The mom of one said the suspect also sexually abused her as a child.
“He performed sexual acts on me as a child and I don’t want to relive that time now but nothing ever happened of that case.”
The SPCA says there is a connection between gender-based violence and animal abuse.
“The link between GBV and animal abuse is referenced in research,” notes the SPCA.
“One study found as much as 71% of those who are perpetrators of GBV are also likely to abuse animals.”
The dog is currently receiving treatment at the TEARS Animal Hospital.
The woman continues: “My mother is disgusted by the incident, he still denied it when she questioned him about it.”
The suspect will appear in Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of bestiality.
Chief Inspector Jaco Pieterse said bestiality cases are heard before the regional court, due to the seriousness of the crime.
“Many of these cases go unreported because people do not regard it as serious,” he says.
“Not only dogs are raped, but other animals as well, including sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, horses and cattle”.
