The case of a Muizenberg lawyer accused of paying teen boys for sex on the beach has been postponed again while counselling for the victims are halted.
Theo Hartzenberg, 36, returned to the Muizenberg Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he faces various charges.
Hartzenberg is accused of sexually exploiting boys by allegedly paying them to have sex with him on Muizenberg Beach each night.
He was arrested after seven boys came forward and told the police they were paid R100 topenetrate him and R50 to masturbate for him.
A 39-year-old mom who discovered what was happening says her 14-year-old son revealed the shocking details after an argument erupted between the boys and it was found that boys as young as 12 were victims.
It is believed the boys were approached by Hartzenberg while begging at Surfer’s Corner.
Hartzenberg has since been released on R10 000 bail and was ordered to stay out of Muizenberg while his case was postponed to 8 September for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the mom says counselling for the teens have been put on hold for the lockdown.
“They are trying their best to heal but are still traumatised because now they are realising they were exploited,” she says.
“They attended counselling but it was put on hold now for this lockdown but they will go back again soon.”
