Two police officers and six prisoners were taken to hospital for treatment after an Ocean View police vehicle transporting inmates and two civilian vehicles collided in Fish Hoek yesterday morning.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said the circumstances surrounding the accident which occurred at around 8.35am in Main Road were being investigated.
DA constituency head for the Deep South Mireille Wenger says, according to witnesses, the police vehicle was speeding and allegedly jumped a red robot, reports the Cape Argus.
One pedestrian was in critical condition and all the prisoners and some roadworks contractors were also injured.
