Community Safety MEC, Albert Fritz, has offered a R10 000 reward for information which leads to the location of Tazne van Wyk and her kidnapper.
As the search for the eight-year-old from Ravensmead enters its seventh day Fritz has called on residents to come forward with information about alleged snatcher Moehydien Pangaker, 54.
Police have launched a manhunt for the convicted child killer after a witness stepped forward and said they saw Pangaker walking with Tazne along Connaught Road on Friday.
The young girl was snatched just metres from her home in Clare Street shortly after returning home from school.
MISSING: Tazne van Wyk
In a statement, Fritz says he met with Ravensmead police and Tazne’s mom, Carmen, where he announced that his department will be offering a reward of R10 000 to anyone who provides any information leading to both the location of Tazne and the arrest of the suspect.
“Having visited the mother of the Tazne van Wyk, I have arranged that a social worker be sent to her by the Department of Social Development to provide her with psycho-social services during this period of great uncertainty. I further advised her mother that a R10 000 reward will be made to anyone with any information which leads to both the location of Tazne and the arrest of the suspect.”

Meanwhile hundreds of patrollers are gearing up for a mass search coordinated by the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit. Volunteers will meet at Tazne’s home in Clare Street at 11 am on Saturday.
