A man has been left in a critical condition after he was mauled by two Rottweilers in Tafelsig on Saturday.
Gabriel Lindy, 45, is in hospital after his friend’s pets attacked him.
He has been left with deep gashes on his legs, arms, chest and neck.
His tjommie Chrishando Simons, 40, says he heard him screaming and went to rescue him from the “demonic dogs”.
“I heard him shout and when I got to the yard, one dog was already biting him and the other was going after the baby he was carrying,” he says.
“So I grabbed the baby and left her outside the yard and went back to get the dog off Gabriel. But then the second dog was also biting him.
“People came with sticks and other things and we eventually managed to get him out of the yard after beating the dogs.”
Gabriel was taking the dog owner’s daughter home on Saturday around 10pm.
Chrishando says Gabriel was trying to protect the child when the dogs attacked.
The owner, who refused to be named, says she was not at home when Gabriel arrived.
“He knew that there were dogs in the yard and whenever I leave, I untie my dogs.
“We have a lot of housebreaking in the area and the dogs are here for protection. A few years ago we had an armed robbery in the house and we don’t want that to happen again.
“I will pay for medical bills and the vet since people attacked my dogs, one almost died and the other was slightly injured.”
