The Western Cape Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) says hulle sukkel om former SABC employee Nobuntu “Nobs” Mkhize in die hande te kry.
During a press briefing yesterday, the team revealed that of the cases which was still under their lens, was that of Mkhize matter which caught the attention of the country in December when a video of the incident on a FlySafair flight went viral over racial remarks.
Matthew du Plessis, Senior Legal Officer, said the matter was not concluded yet as they were struggling to reach Mkhize in order to get a response on the allegations.
He reveals: “On this matter. we are experiencing a bit of a challenge on reaching Miss Mkhize.
“We have deployed a tracing agent to get contact details for her but the emails that we have received do not seem to be working.
“We have posted a letter to her known address, setting out the allegations, asking her response thereto, which is ordinary procedure for the Commission.
“These things do happen and it does not weaken our resolve to address the matter.”
Mkhize made headlines last week when she was interviewed by Newszroom Afrika and said she apologised to the coloured community and also claimed that she was not drunk or racist.
Her comments prompted reactions by political parties including a case being opened of crimen injuria.
