Charlton Kolbe, 25, was laid to rest in Kraaifontein on Saturday and his relatives are appealing for his father, Charles Kolbe, to come home.
Charles is unaware that his son has died, says mom Patricia Booysen.
Patricia, 47, says Charlton was walking in Buitesingel Street, Scottsdene, on August 9 at about 4am when he was approached by armed robbers.
They stabbed him and fled with his cellphone and cash.
Patricia says what hurts her the most is that Charlton spoke to his killers, asking why they were stabbing him after he had given them what they wanted.
MISSING: Dad Charles
“He said to them, why do you still stab me when I gave you what you wanted,” she says.
“His brother rushed him to hospital but Charlton passed away soon thereafter. He also has a six-year-old son.
Patricia says they have no idea where Charles is: “We saw him last year last. We have no contact with him. He doesn’t know that his son has passed away.”
Police spokesperson Sinati Joni says: “The investigation is ongoing with no arrests made at this stage.”
