According to the Facebook post, the cousins, 24 and 37, were innocently smoking cigarettes when they were shot.
On Sunday, ward councillor Angus Mckenzie visited the cousins to enquire what had happened but the men and their families refused to give information.
Resident Sabrina Amon told the Daily Voice that her niece, Whariqk Amon, 21, was also injured in the shooting.
“She was just walking to the shop when the guys came and started shooting at the other guys. They shot her in the arm and she was taken to Somerset Hospital. She is okay, but she is still in shock.”
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed the incident and says the motive for the shooting is unknown.
“An attempted murder case is under investigation.”
After repeated attempts to speak to the families, Mckenzie says he is disappointed that people do not want to speak up.
“The problem is the less information we have, the less likely we are to actually catch the culprits.
"In other parts of Bonteheuwel we have made strides in curbing shootings because people are standing up. We also need more people to join the local neighbourhood watch and keep their community safe.”
