Two people, one of whom is a 78-year-old man, have died and three people were wounded when skollies started shooting in Lavender Hill on Tuesday.

The gangsters opened fire on a group of people who were busy playing dominoes in Stuckuris Hof.

Cops say the drama unfolded late on Tuesday afternoon while the men, aged 78, 30, 23, 22 and 19, were relaxing in the sun, some playing a game of dominoes.

The 23-year-old man died at the scene while the 78-year-old toppie later passed away in hospital.

Neighbours rushed to the victims’ side, trying to assist the wounded, one of whom had been shot in the face.

Residents at the scene refused to comment on what had happened.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut, confirmed the incident and explains the suspects opened fire and fled in a Nissan Tiida.

“The death of a 23-year-old man is being investigated after he was shot and killed,” he says.

“Four other male persons aged 19, 22, 30 and 78 years old, were shot and wounded during the same incident when suspects in a Nissan Tiida opened fire at the victims.

“The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The 78-year-old man later succumbed to his injuries.”
