A Wallacedene woman was hit in the head by a stray bullet while she was on her way home from a spaza shop.
Fundiswa Xolilizwe, 26, died just around the corner from her Dywili Crescent place.
A witness says she heard gunshots and found Fundiswa lying in the street, her plastic bag with groceries next to her body.
“I heard that it was two people who shot her, they were on foot and they ran after they did that. I heard later that there was another man who was shot in the leg.”
The woman showed the Daily Voice the scene of the murder which still had blood spots.
“She had just come from the shop, no one knows why she was shot because no one heard an argument.”
Fundiswa’s distraught family says they are not ready to talk yet.
“We are trying to deal with this because she was taken from us in this manner, she was not sick, we didn’t even get the chance to see her, she was taken suddenly by a bullet.
“I don’t even know where the suspects are and who they are, we are trying to make sense of everything,” a relative said.
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk confirms that they are investigating the cases.
“This office confirm that a case of murder and attempted murder are being investigated after a 26-year-old woman was fatally wounded in Wallacedene.
“The second victim, a 21-year-old man, was transferred to Day Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg.
“No suspects were arrested, the investigation is ongoing.”
