Chaos erupted when two men were shot and killed in Bellville on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokeswoman Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says no one has been arrested for the latest taxi violence related incident.
“According information at hand, a double murder of two male victims, aged 31 and the other in his fifties, and two attempted murder cases will be opened for investigation.
“This is subsequent to a shooting incident that occurred this afternoon at about 3:50pm at the corner of Voortrekker and Blanckeberg Streets in Bellville.”
She confirms the incident that happened close to the Home Affairs branch is taxi-related.
Some people were also injured, but were not on the scene when cops arrived.
“The police are still following up on information to locate the victims that were injured.
“Police seized a stolen firearm from one of the deceased and no one has been arrested so far. Police were on the scene combing for clues.”
This is a third incident in which taxi men were killed. Two weeks ago a man was shot and killed in front of his New Crossroads home.
Mhlangenqaba Mbolombo had just dropped his wife at home and as he stepped out of his car unknown gunmen fired bullets at the taxi owner.
He died on the way to hospital.
Two days later, two taxi owners were killed near Nyanga Terminus.
The driver of the vehicle died as he was trying to get away from the suspects who were in a Toyota Avanza.
No one has been arrested for the latest killings in the ongoing taxi war.
