The owner of a larney supercar saw his gat on Sunday after crashing his multi-million rand ride while dicing in Green Point.
The striking blue and black McLaren 720s, worth over R5 million, was wrapped around a tree and miraculously the driver escaped unscathed.
But his ego took a beating as he had to endure the jokes of passers-by who gathered at the scene and made gat of him for losing control of his kwaai car.
The costly accident happened on Helen Suzman Boulevard in Green Point opposite Ultra Liquors.
Eyewitnesses say the McLaren was dicing with a red Lamborghini Huracan, also worth nearly R6 million, when the driver lost control of the car and hit a pole before hitting a tree.
“These two were dicing, this guy’s lost control, he’s hit the tree,” a witness explains on one video.
Both cars had GP registrations and were spotted, and heard, roaring around the CBD on Saturday.
The McLaren's number plate reads “NO WIFE”, while the Lambo’s is “CHICKSS DIGIT”.
Videos of the incident surfaced on social media and on one video, a man believed to be one of the drivers appears irritated at people making videos of the crash scene, asking why they are not filming the driver of the red Lambo parked nearby in the street.
Eyewitnesses tell the man he doesn’t have the skill to drive the brand-new McLaren 720s.
“Well you can’t drive it bro, so shut up. You f**king wrapped one around the tree bro, nice,” the witness says, chuckling.
This appears to rattle the windgat driver, who tells witnesses: “You never gonna own one.”
A McLaren 720s sells from R5.5 million in the country.
With extras, the price can shoot up to R10 million.
The supercar has a woelige 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine, and boasts 720 horsepower which can take you from 0-100km/h in under three seconds.
The City of Cape Town has long been battling with dicers and residents of Green Point have been complaining for years about the owners of larney cars racing on the wide, winding road.
Maxine Bezuidenhout, spokesperson for City Traffic Service, confirmed: “The driver of a supercar lost control of his vehicle on Helen Suzman Boulevard, just after 11am.
"The vehicle hit a light pole and was severely damaged. No injuries were reported.”
She said no arrests have been made.
