A dom skelm saw his gat when he misjudged a jump and landed in the jaws of two dogs.
The man, who is apparently a known skelm in Gansbaai, had allegedly broken into someone’s home and was running away from members of the Gansbaai Neighbourhood Watch, leaping from rooftop to rooftop.
But, as he tried to jump between dakke in Berg Street, he miscalculated and fell into a yard, where two large honde, who are said to be a cross between a boerboel and a rottweiler, happily mauled him.
The dramatic dog attack was caught on a security camera on Monday at 11am.
The dief was caught red-handed with a stolen wetsuit, flippers and other items.
In the video, the owner of the dogs can be seen running into the house when the dogs start attacking the intruder.
As the dogs sink their teeth into him, the desperate skelm grabs a long pipe and tries to ward them off, but the strong dogs keep coming and one even manages to rip his top from his body over his head.

The one dog then goes for his leg and he picks up his top, hitting the animal to no effect.
He falls to the ground and the dogs continue to attack him.
A member of the neighbourhood watch who followed him on the rooftops alerts the owner, who comes out of the house and calls off the dogs.
The neighbourhood watch member, identified as Bram Otto, and another member, arrest the dief.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut, says the man sustained injuries to his arms and legs and received medical attention before being arrested.
“It is alleged that the neighbourhood watch spotted the suspect leaving the premises of the complainant with stolen goods,” says Traut.
“He will appear in the Hermanus Magistrates’ Court (today) on charges of housebreaking and theft.”
Hugh Daniel, chairperson of the Gansbaai Neighbourhood Watch, says they have one fewer criminal to worry about.
“We are just happy to be able to help the community and get people like him off the streets.
“We found him in possession of stolen items such as a
wetsuit, clothing and a knife.”
