Mom of five dies after being pushed out of taxi

Family of Eastridge woman now demands answers after hospital says she died of natural causes

THE family of an Eastridge mom of five are still waiting on answers after she was put into a coma for five days after being pushed out of a taxi three weeks ago.

Analize Adams, 45, was travelling in a Tafelsig taxi on 25 April when she was allegedly pushed out of the taxi in front of the hek at Shoprite Town Centre in Mitchells Plain.

Her niece Melissa Adams told the Daily Voice that there are CCTV cameras outside the winkel and wanted to know how it will be obtained to determine what really happened.

Adams added: “The incident was on that Friday and she passed away in the hospital on [29 April] in hospital, but a family friend called us the doctors at Groote Schuur told us nothing".

However, Adams’ death certificate seen by the Daily Voice stated that her cause of death was due to natural causes, however the family claims that it was due the injuries she succumbed to after being comatose.

Adams said: “We asked [the hospital] why the cause of death was natural causes, however they did not want to take the body for autopsy despite telling us that they were going to.

"We waited [three weeks] but they still put it down as natural causes, because they said she was bleeding from her head.”

The victim’s five children aged between 9 and 21 were able to visit her, however could not talk with their mom due to her being in a coma.

Spot on Crime and Emergency are assisting the family with funeral arrangements, however, Adams said things have been deurmekaar going back and forth from the hospital and waiting for a case to be opened. 

Police spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana said: “Kindly be advised that the mentioned case number is an inquest docket registered at Woodstock police station for further investigation.”

Adams' funeral will be held on 20 May, however the family are still waiting on answers into the investigation and autopsy.
