YET another shooting outside a hof hit the Mother City yesterday, as a vrou was found dead inside a vehicle outside the Blue Downs Magistrates Court, with the cop shop right next door.

Social media was abuzz as mense said that this type of incident is becoming a trend, where people are either shot outside a police station or courthouse.

The shooting follows the killing of a 50-year-old man facing charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm inside the Wynberg Regional court on 8 April.

In March, an alleged Hard Livings gangster was shot opposite Mitchells Plain police station by a person pretending to be a car guard.

And on 30 January, alleged Junky Funky gang boss Ashley “Essie” Phillips was gunned down outside the Brackenfell police station.

Bystanders at the Blue Downs shooting say that the incident is gang-related while others at the scene were too bang to talk.

Others claim that the shooting was a hit. However, it is believed that the woman was not the intended target, but rather her companion who had left the scene.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “Mfuleni police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in which a 25-year-old female was shot and fatally wounded in Bentley Road, Blue Downs, on Monday, 19 May 2025, at about 12pm.

“Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victim inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to her body.

“The victim was declared deceased on the scene.

“The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation and arrests are yet to be made. A murder case was registered for investigation.”
