Delft constable shot and wounded

Delft police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a police constable came under attack where he was shot and wounded while attending to a complaint in Freedom Farm.

The incident took place on Friday and the constable is stationed at Delft Police station. It is believed that the constable was shot in the leg.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident and said that no arrests have been made as yet.

Twigg reports: “Delft police registered an attempted murder case for investigation following a shooting incident in which a police constable stationed at Delft SAPS was wounded. The members attended to a complaint in Freedom Farm, Delft when they came under attack.

"The injured officer was taken to a medical facility where he is receiving treatment. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made.”

Public Relations Officer for the Delft Community Policing Forum (CPF), Francois de Bruin are urging Delft mense to stop attacking the officers in blue who are hard at work to protect the community.

De Bruin says: “Delft Police registered an attempted murder case for investigation following a shooting incident in which a police constable stationed at Delft SAPS was wounded.

"The men and women in blue/ SAPS attended to a complaint in Freedom Farm, Delft when they came under attack.

"The injured constable was taken to a medical facility where he is receiving treatment. The Community Police Forum [acknowledge] the circumstances surrounding this heinous, coward [and] barbaric incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made.

"Delft CPF again appeal to the community of Delft and surrounding areas not to allow these attacks on our men and women in blue to continue in the way it's been going these past few months [are] totally unacceptable.

"Let us as fed-up communities stand together against these criminals that think they can continue to keep us hostage and in fear. Enough is enough.”
