THE City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officer charged with kidnapping and murder will remain in custody and will have to wait until 17 June to find out if he will be released on bail or not.
Thandile Khesa,43, and his four co-accused Mogamat Samuels (33), Thokozani Kamnjunga (36), Existing Mudivari (33) and Yasseen Jele (30) are charged with kidnapping, extortion, murder and possession of stolen property appeared at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court yesterday.
The men allegedly kidnapped, ransomed and killed a Kraaifontein man on 16 May.
The State alleges that Thandile transported the potential vehicle buyer in a City branded law enforcement vehicle from Bellville to the location he was held for ransom, and eventually to where his body was later found buried in a shallow grave near Monwabisi Beach.
On 17 May 2025, the team followed all the leads that led them to addresses in Philippi and Kleinvlei which resulted in the arrest of the four accused.
The team was led to an open field on the dunes between Monwabisi beach and Macassar, where one of the accused pointed out a shallow grave where the victim was killed and buried.
Upon further probe, it transpired that the City of Cape Town Law Enforcement vehicle, which was driven by the suspect, was utilized in the commission of this heinous crime.
