TENANT FROM HELL

A LENTEGEUR ouma was left pimpel en pers after a bakkie full of jongens assaulted her at her home.

Gamieda Hendricks says on Saturday, 14 June 2025, she was left full of blood and beaten to the ground after an altercation with her tenant of 17 years who refused to move out.

The 66-year-old claims that the altercation started when her son and his girlfriend were in the toilet when the tenant, who has a weak bladder, wanted to use the toilet.

Gamieda explained: “She did not want to wait for my son to come out of the toilet with his girlfriend because he took too long and she has a weak bladder, so she decided to spray my son with pepper spray.

“He pushed her hard and her head knocked against the wall and it was bleeding. I am not sure what transpired because I live in the back in a wendy house.

“I had to move out of my own house and set up a wendy on my property because it is unbearable to live with that woman in one house, but my children still live in the house.

“When I got into the house, she [the tenant] said: ‘Julle gaan nou sien julle n**iers’ and she left my house at 9pm.”

At around 11pm, a group of men arrived in a white bakkie, kicked the gate in and apparently pointed a gun at them.

Gameida said: “As I unlocked my wendy, they attacked me immediately. I was never beaten or kicked like this in my entire 66 years of existence.

Hulle het my lekker gemoer in my pension jare. One man kicked me about 20 times in my face, another woman kept beating me with a baton. They kept saying: ‘waar is jou vark seun, hy’t mos die aunty geslat en die aunty huil daar bo’.

“Luckily, my son was not home but that means she sent these people om ons aan te rand because how would they know what happened?

"These jongens stole two phones and kidnapped one of my son’s female friends who was here and said she must show them where my son is or they’ll also beat her.

“I was rushed to hospital. My body is in pain, I can’t cough, poo and have blou merke all over.”

SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed Lentegeur Police are investigating the ouma’s beating as a case of common assault, saying: “According to reports, four unknown males entered a premises in Lobelia Street in Lentegeur on Saturday 14 June 2025 at about 8pm and assaulted the occupants.

“They fled the scene and dropped the complainant [the son’s friend who was kidnapped] in Mandalay. The suspects are yet to be arrested.”

However, Gamieda said that the bakkie had 10 to 12 people and the female was dropped in AZ Berman Road not Mandalay.

She said that she never saw her tenant again, but after the assault the tenant’s son collected his mother’s things. Police are appealing to anyone with information surrounding this incident to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
