A STRANDFONTEIN vrou who accused her ex-boyfriend, a suspended law enforcement officer, of gender-based violence is now herself in the dock for allegedly breaking into his huis and assaulting him and his new goose.
Shauna Rhoda took to social media last month to break her silence on her alleged assault by the hands of her ex-berk.
The post caused major outrage after it was revealed that her ex was a law enforcement officer who is currently suspended from working pending an investigation.
Rhoda previously told the Daily Voice that on 2 July she went to fetch clothes for her children at her ex's house.
She explained: “That day I went to get clothes for the kids and I called him to tell him I was outside.
“He said: ‘Voetsek, I’m not opening’, [thinking] I was lying and I said it was cold and the kids were with me. He said he wasn’t going to open and that the laaities can stand in the cold.
“That’s when I jumped over the wall, I knocked on the front door and went around to the room window and knocked there.
“He opened the front door and that’s when he started hitting me on the head and pulling my hair through the window.”
Rhoda further explained that she had opened a case against him, however it was withdrawn due to insufficient evidence and her ex then opened a counter case.
However, according to Daily Voice sources Rhoda broke into his property and assaulted her ex and his new girlfriend at 10pm that night.
The source explained: “The ex-boyfriend put her out of the house, and she broke into the property again and assaulted them again.
“The victim, in the matter of the complaint, confirms this in her statement to the police.
“The matter was not placed on the roll due to merits/no prospect of a successful prosecution.
“The suspect is acting in defense of himself and his new girlfriend, whom the complainant confirmed she wanted to assault.”
Rhoda, out on a warning, appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Tuesday facing charges of assault common under the domestic violence act, malicious damage to property and housebreaking.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said that both Rhoda and her ex were arrested on 2 July and appeared in court the next day.
Van Wyk reported: “The case against him was nolle prosequi [not pursued], and the case against her is still ongoing.”
The court heard that the case was postponed to 2 September for purposes of further particulars to be furnished to the defence.
The Daily Voice has reached out to Rhoda to comment on the alleged assault on her ex and his girlfriend, however she did not respond.
TABLES TURN Shauna Rhoda, 32.
