AMERICAN rapper Snoop Dogg says he did not slam the LGBTQ+ community when he hit out at Pixar’s 2022 movie Lightyear last month.
At the time, Snoop, 53, revealed that he went to the movies with his grandson and upon seeing that two of the female characters had a baby together, his grandson wanted to know how that was possible.
Snoop explained on the It’s Giving podcast: “I took my grandson to Buzz [Lightyear].. .
“We watching it and the lady had a baby with a woman. My grandson was like - in the middle of the movie - Papa Snoop, why is she having a baby with a woman? She is a woman.”
He added that he thought at the time: “Oh sh!t, I didn’t come in for this sh!t. I just came to watch the goddamn movie. ‘Hey man, watch the movie’.
“Huh-uh, they just said she and she had a baby. They’re both women, how does she have a baby?”
Snoop added: “So it’s like f**k me, I’m scared to go to the movies - y’all are throwing me in the middle of sh!t that I don’t have an answer for.

“It threw me for a loop. I’m like ‘What part of the movie was this?’ These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”
Naturally, Snoop was ripped apart online, with a Pixar screenwriter at the time Lauren Gunderson chipping in on Instagram with: “So. I created the LIGHTYEAR lesbians...
As we wrote early versions of what became LIGHTYEAR, a key character needed a partner, and it was so natural to write ‘she’ instead of ‘he’...
“I’m proud of it. To infinity. Love is love.”
Snoop has now addressed all the backlash, saying: “All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love.
“My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-year-old. Teach me how to learn. I'm not perfect.
