ONE DEAD IN BEACON VALLEY ATTACK

Six people were shot in gang-related incident

FIVE people were shot and wounded and one killed in broad daylight in Beacon Valley.

The shooting incident took place in Netbal Street around 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon when unknown gunmen arrived in a gold Toyota Corolla and opened fire on the six occupants in what police believe to be a gang-related shooting.

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed and five other victims between the ages of 14 to 32 managed to survive the onslaught on their lives and were shot and wounded in the shooting and taken to a medical facility for treatment.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed: “Mitchells Plain police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Sunday afternoon, 31 August 2025, at about 15:30, in Netbal Street, Beacon Valley, where a 24-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and five other victims between 14 and 32 shot and wounded. 

"Police members were called to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 24-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment. 

"According to reports the victims were standing in front of a residence when a gold Toyota Corolla drove up to the victims and the occupants started shooting at them.

"The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Murder and attempted murder cases were registered for investigation.”

Public Relations Officer for the Mitchells Plain Community Police Forum, Linda Jones said as the CPF they are condemning these killings.
