A TAFELSIG man was shot and killed while waiting for his transport to work on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place in Thereza Street, Tafelsig around 7am where the 23-year-old man was gunned down while standing at the nearby winkel when he was approached by two assailants.
According to the Public Relations Officer for the Mitchells Plain Community Police Forum, Linda Jones the deceased was on his way to work.
She said: "Another innocent male on his way to work was shot and killed."
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie said that the motive for the attack is yet to be established.
Pojie confirmed: “Mitchells Plain SAPS registered a murder case for further investigation following a shooting incident this morning, Tuesday, 02 September 2025 at about 07:00 that claimed the life of a 23-year-old man.
"Information reveals that the deceased was waiting for his lift at a shop in Thereza Street, Tafelsig when two assailants approached him from Carmen Road and one walked directly onto the deceased and fatally shot him in the head.
"The suspects fled the scene. The motive is yet to be established.”
Meanwhile, the body of a man was found dumped under a bridge on Valhalla Drive, near the train tracks in another gruesome murder at 8.30am.
The body of was found lying face-down in the dirt.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said that Elsies River police are investigating a case of murder and the motive for the attack is yet to be determined.
Twigg confirmed: “Elsies River police registered a murder case for investigation after the body of a 26 year old male was discovered under a bridge in Valhalla Drive, Matroosfontein, on Tuesday, 2 September 2025, at about 08:30."
