A FAMILY in Seawinds, Lavender Hill is mourning the death of a teenaged boy who was shot and killed on Saturday in what police believe to be in a gang-related shooting.

The incident took place on Saturday in St Timothy Street when the 15-year-old was reportedly shot in the head and chest by a suspect on a bicycle.

When Daily Voice went to his family home, we were informed that his mother had left to go to the mortuary.

A close relative, who did not want to be named, said that the incident has left the family distraught.

The family member shared: “I cannot say much because I was not at the scene and I did not see what happened but apparently he was shot in the head.

"We are not happy about it. He was not an angel but to just gunpoint someone and shoot them.

"He used to dwaal in the area but seeing where his body was found, he was coming from his vriende kring.

"Someone came to call us saying that he has been shot. I loved him very much.”

When Daily Voice asked what could be the reason for the shooting, we were told: “I am not going to say anything.”

According to a resident who also does not want to be named, there is an in-fight between the Junky Funky Kids.

The resident explained: “This shooting is gang related. It is a lelike ding, they are killing each other and so many people are dying because the Funkys are fighting amongst each other.

"There are people who witnessed who killed the deceased but they are scared to come forward with information because they know each other. They need to arrest these criminals because the shooting is continuing, and they use the children to go and shoot people dead.”

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed: “Muizenberg SAPS registered a murder case for further investigation following the shooting incident on Saturday, 6 September 2025 at about 17:40 in St Timothy Street, Seawinds."
