Gang-related shooting rocks Mfuleni

POLICE are probing the killing of three men who were viciously gunned down and another victim who was shot and wounded while standing at a shop on Friday in Happy Valley, Mfuleni.

Disturbing footage of the incident has surfaced showing the senseless bloodshed around 22.41pm in Ekopoleni which claimed the lives of three men between the ages of 24 and 27 and an 18-year- old victim who sustained injuries.

The two-minute, 26-second clip shows three men and a woman at a tuck shop. The woman can be seen buying goods as it seems that the men are waiting their turn to be served when they all scramble as shots are fired on them. 

A gunman with a hoodie and another one with a red top then appear, shooting directly at the four men, as the woman is seen running away.

The teen manages to get up and run away while the three men can be seen gunned down lying on the ground.

One of the victims is seen moving on camera when two attackers appear this time and shoot directly at him. 

Two victims are seen moving again when the attackers appear for the third time and fire several headshots.

A white Isuzu bakkie appears and the two gunmen enter the vehicle and take off.

Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said that the shooting is believed to be gang-related and additional members have been deployed to maintain calm in the area.

Traut reported: “SAPS detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in Ekopoleni, Happy Valley, Mfuleni, [Friday] night, in which three men aged between 24 and 27 were fatally wounded. A fourth victim, aged 18, sustained injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

"At approximately 22:41, a lone gunman opened fire on the victims before being picked up by the driver of an Isuzu bakkie. They are yet to be arrested. 

"While detectives are pursuing all leads, operational members have been deployed in the area to maintain stability. At this stage, the motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related.”
