THE family of 18-year-old Nafees Isaacs, who went missing at Bakoven last weekend, has finally found some peace of mind after his body was washed up at Beta Beach on Friday morning.
Nafees, from N2 Gateway in Delft, and a group of friends and his sister visited Camps Bay beach during the early hours of 27 September, but their kuier turned into a nightmare when the teen vanished at sea.
He slipped off a rock while taking a leak and disappeared into the dark waters. According to his father, the group of friends could not help as they could not see anything as it was dark.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that a male body was discovered at Beta Beach, Bakoven, on Friday morning and fits the description of Nafees.
Twigg reported: “Camps Bay police registered an inquest for investigation after the body of a male was discovered on the rocks at Beta Beach, Bakoven, on Friday morning, 03 October 2025, at about 7.30am.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. We can confirm that the person fit the description of the 18-year-old male who was reported missing.”
Nafees’ heartbroken father, Sulayman, said that he feels better knowing that his son has been found but he is struggling to come to terms with losing a child.
The shattered father said: “I can’t describe how I feel, it is too fresh and it is the first time I lose a child out of all my nine children.
“It is very sudden and he was still so young but I feel at ease knowing that his body has been found. “There is no more uncertainty if he will ever be found and if his body will wash out because some people never wash out and that was my biggest fear.
“I told myself I will be at ease when they find his body and we can give him a proper and respectful burial.
“Losing a child will always be hartseer but we now know where he is. God gives and takes away and God will take away our heartache and pain in due time.
“Our entire family is emotional because we miss his ways and personality.
“He was very respectful and people admired him a lot, he had his gruwelike friends but he was never disrespectful to grown ups or one to talk back.”
