Three dead in Delft attack

Cops probe gang shooting as three other survive gunshots

The community of Delft was rocked by a deadly mass shooting during the early hours of Sunday morning which left three men dead in what is believed to be a gang-related shooting.

The incident took place around 5.30am in Sandrivier Street, Leiden where the three men were gunned down in the street. 

The men were shot and killed by unidentified gunmen who shot at them multiple times and fled their scene.

Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed that the South African Police Service are probing the killings and more boots are on the ground to curb the ongoing gang violence.

Traut reported: "Anti-Gang Unit detectives have initiated an investigation into three counts of murder following a shooting incident in Sandrivier Street, Leiden, Delft, at approximately 5.30am.

"The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related. Police deployments in the Delft policing precinct have been bolstered as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the area and curb gang-related violence.”

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old man was shot and wounded on Sunday morning around 6.40am in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain and was rushed to a medical facility where he survived the onslaught of his life.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the matter is under investigation.

"Mitchell’s Plain police registered an attempted murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Sunday, 9 November 2025, at about 6.40pm, on the corner of Assegaaibos and Badsberg Streets, Tafelsig, in which a 18 year old male was shot and wounded. The victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment in a private vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. The suspect/s are yet to be arrested.”

Twigg also reported that Kensington police a woman and a teen girl were hit by stray bullets inside their wendy house in Ventura Street, Factreton.

Twigg said: “On Sunday morning, 9 November 2025, in which a 51-year-old female and a 15- year-old girl was shot and wounded. According to reports the victims were in their Wendy house when shots went off outside and a stray bullet hit the victims."
