The new week was off to a tragic start for the community of Manenberg after three men were shot and one killed while sitting inside a house on Monday morning.
The incident took place at 4.30am when unidentified gunmen entered a house in Cyclone Road and opened fire on the unsuspecting victims.
A 35-year-old man was fatally wounded while two other victims aged 39 and 53 were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Manenberg police are investigating a murder and two counts of attempted murder cases.
Van Wyk reported: “A 35-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and two others aged 39 and 53 were injured. The 35-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The injured victims were taken to a nearby emergency centre for treatment.
"According to reports three unidentified males entered the house and randomly started shooting on the three unsuspecting victims who were sitting in the bedroom.
"The three suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation”
Meanwhile in a separate incident, Durbanville police are investigating five counts of attempted murder after five men were shot and wounded in a shooting incident on Sunday evening in Fisantekraal.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg reported: “Durbanville police registered five counts of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Sunday night, 9 November 2025, at about 20:20, on the corner of Dullah Omar and Yolandi Du Preez Streets, Fisantekraal, where five males between the ages of 24 and 31 were shot and wounded.
"Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting at the mentioned address and upon arrival on the scene the victims were already taken to medical facilities in private vehicles.
"According to reports the victims were standing on the corner when a blue Toyota Tazz drove up to them and opened fire, wounding the victims before fleeing the scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made.”
