TWO TEENS KILLED IN SHOOTINGS

Violence rocks Eerste River and Parkwood

Gun violence on the Cape Flats claimed two young lives on Tuesday morning in Eerste River and Parkwood.

Tragedy struck at a tuckshop in Springbok Street, Heather Park, Eerste River at around 9.30am when gunmen opened fire at a group of mense. 

A 18-year-old boy was gunned down in a hail of bullets and died on the scene. 

Meanwhile,  a 15-year-old laaitie and 38-year-old man were also struck and wounded and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that the matter is under investigation.

Van Wyk reported: “Kleinvlei police registered a murder and two counts of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Tuesday morning at 9.30am outside a premises in Springbok Street, Heather Park, Eersteriver. 

“A 18-year-old male was shot multiple times and fatally wounded, and two others aged 15 and 38 (males) injured. The injured victims were taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

“According to reports two unidentified suspects approached the victims whilst they were at a tuck shop and randomly started shooting at them fatally wounding the deceased. The motive is believed to be gang-related. The suspects are yet to be arrested.”

In a separate shooting incident during the early hours of Tuesday morning, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot in the head in Parkwood at a premises in Blackbird Avenue.

Van Wyk said that the incident took place in front of the mentioned address and Grassy Park police registered a murder case for investigation.

Van Wyk added: “Circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on 11 November at 3.15am at a premises in Blackbird Avenue, Parkwood are under investigation.

“According to reports SAPS members attended to a shooting incident at a hospital and on arrival they found a male with one gunshot wound to the head. The 19 year old male died due to injury sustained in hospital.

“As alleged, the incident took place in front of the mentioned address. Suspect/s is unknown. Investigation ongoing. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation.”
