A WOMAN allegedly linked to a Facebook Marketplace scam that led to the murder of Mogamat Yusuf Daniels a week before his wedding, was arrested on Wednesday.

According to Daily Voice sources, Ashiekah Naidoo, 23, handed herself in after police appealed to the public for assistance in tracing her whereabouts.

Naidoo is set to make her first court appearance today at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.

Her arrest comes two days after the Daily Voice published an article asking readers and the public for help locating her.

Naidoo was taken into custody while her co-accused, Morte Nelson, appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court, where her bail application was postponed to 28 November.

The family of Daniels claim Naidoo is the alleged mastermind behind the murder.

Meanwhile, the third accused Monray Martin remains in hospital under police guard after being shot in the same incident.

The accused face murder charges following Yusuf’s death on 24 September, after he was allegedly set up in a Facebook Marketplace scam.

The 29-year-old had planned to sell his phone to raise funds for his wedding, which was scheduled for the following week.

At the time of the incident, two women contacted Daniels and arranged to meet him at a garage in Ottery, but the meeting ended in tragedy.

His uncle Abduragman Jacobs said at the time: “Then two girls contacted him and showed interest saying that their father is going to buy the phone for them.

“They set up a meeting and Mogamat Yusuf and his fiancé were together, but he dropped her off before going to meet them.

“Then he picked up his cousin and the cousin’s son to go with him, but the girls told him to meet at a shop, cause they had to get something, instead of meeting at the Engen garage in Ottery Road.”

Following the arrest, Jacobs told Daily Voice: “All praise to God.

“She was on the run for two months, and the minute she was in the media there was no hiding. The jig was up.

“When I heard she was arrested, it was amazing news. It was a relief.

“They had her, and it was like a cat and mouse game, because she was still active on her social media platforms, living her life.

“Now we will hear all her excuses that she will make up for what she has done.”
