Lotus River man dumped in wheelie bin

LOTUS River residents made a shocking discovery yesterday morning when the body of an adult man was found dumped inside a wheelie bin in front of Stephen Road Primary School.

The body was found around 7.30am in Stephen Road and it is believed that the deceased lived in Lotus River.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the matter surrounding the discovery of the body is under investigation and arrests are yet to be made.

Twigg reported: “Grassy Park police registered a murder case for investigation after the body of an unknown adult male was found in a wheelie bin on Thursday morning, 20 November 2025, at about 7.30pm in Stephan Road, Lotus River.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made.” 

Public relations officer for the Lotus River Community Police Forum (CPF) Howard Downes said: “As a CPF, we do not know the circumstances surrounding this incident. 

“No arrests have been made yet. The community is up in arms because this is an horrendous crime that has happened in the community once again. 

“As a CPF we are appealing to anyone with information to please come forward and contact 10111 or make contact with the Grassy Park SAPS.”

Meanwhile, DNA tests will be conducted to determine the identity of the human remains discovered along Baden Powell Drive on Wednesday morning.

Twigg reported that the circumstances surrounding the discovery are under investigation after skeletal remains were found in a shallow grave in Baden Powell Drive, Enkanini, Khayelitsha.

Twigg said: “Harare police registered an inquest for investigation following the discovery of skeleton remains in a shallow grave in Baden Powell Drive, Enkanini, Khayelitsha, on Wednesday morning, 19 November 2025.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and DNA testing will be conducted to determine the identity of the remains.”

This comes after a woman’s body was also found along Baden Powell Drive in Macassar a week ago.

Pictures of the woman’s body circulated on social media covered halfway with sand after she was discovered by a passer-by on 7 November 2025.
