THE start of the festive season is off to a lekker start as The Baruch Entertainers, one of Cape Town’s most beloved Minstrel troupes, is hosting a family-friendly, three-day Baruch Community Carnival, taking place from 4 to 6 December 2025 at the Elsies River Rugby Club.
Known for their passion for preserving and evolving Cape Town’s vibrant Minstrel traditions, Baruch Entertainers, under the leadership of chairman Claude Jonas, has become a household name in the cultural community.
Now, the troupe is extending that creative spirit to bring people together, uplift local entrepreneurs, and celebrate the culture and resilience of Elsies River and surrounding areas.
Proceeds from the Carnival will go toward helping children in need, specifically providing school uniforms and essentials for families who cannot afford them.
Wendy Rhode, Executive Director for the Baruch Community Carnival, said: “This Carnival is about community.
"It’s about creating opportunities for small businesses while celebrating our culture and giving back. We want vendors from all over Cape Town to come showcase their talent and be part of something meaningful.”
The event welcomes a wide range of vendors, including food and drink sellers, craft makers, clothing designers, small business owners, and community organisations.
The Carnival promises a lively mix of entertainment and attractions for all ages, including live performances from local artists including Waseef Piekaan, Allan The Car Guard, The OGs dance group and various local community artists.
