Van Wyk reported: “Circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Tuesday evening at 9.15pm at the corner of Swartkop and Fernglen Street, Wesbank where a 40 year old male was shot and fatally wounded are under investigation.
“According to reports, SAPS members received a complaint of a murder at the mentioned address. Upon arrival they found the body of a male laying on his back with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Chairperson of the Sector 3 Crime Forum, Edith van Wyk said there is a concern for a flare up in shootings after a quiet period.
She explained: “The shooting subsided. We haven’t had many shootings or killings for November in Wesbank, this is the first time in a long time.
“A lot of new parolees have been released which are in our area, some of them are not even from Wesbank but in order to be released, they had to give an alternate address.
“The CPF and community was previously involved in parole meetings where we could say who we don’t want in our community but not anymore.
“It is school holidays and to some extent there is a concern of a flare up in shootings, which could result in innocent people or children getting church.”
