SENSELESS: A 13-year-old boy was shot dead

WESTERN Cape Police reported a bloody weekend in the Cape as gun violence continue to terrorise communities.
On Friday afternoon, a senseless shooting tragically claimed the life of a Seawinds teen on St. Peter’s Street.
According to reports, a 13-year-old was shot in the back of the head in a gang-related incident.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.
Van Wyk reported: “Muizenberg police registered a murder case for investigation. According to reports SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident and on their arrival at the mentioned address the community pointed out the body of a juvenile boy that was lying in the road.
“The deceased sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive is believed to be gang-related.”
In unrelated incidents, police also registered two attempted murder cases on the same day in two separate incidents.
In Kraaifontein, a 18-year-old man was shot in the neck and rushed to hospital.
Van Wyk confirmed: “Kraaifontein police registered an attempted murder following a shooting incident on 16 January at 5.20pm at the corner of Milton and Jakaranda Street, Scottsville, Kraaifontein, in which a 18-year-old male was shot and injured.
“The victim sustain a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The motive for this incident forms part of police investigations.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds in a shooting in Belhar after being attacked while walking.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed “Belhar police registered an attempted murder case following a shooting incident on 16 January at 4.30pm in Elsenburg Street, Belhar, in which a 37-year-old male was shot and injured.
“According to reports the victim was walking in the mentioned street when he was shot by two unidentified males.
“He sustained gunshot wounds to his lower back, left leg and right shoulder. He was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The motive is believed to be gang-related.”
