VIBES: Athlone Stadium will come alive

GET ready to jol and jive to the sound of Cape Town at the Kaapse Klopse Choral Competition.

Die ding gaan ruk by Athlone Stadium this Saturday, as the koortjies and singers return for the second part of the Kaapse Klopse Choral Competition, hosted by Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association. 

This historic event has over 13 500 spectators attending each week to see their favourite troupes in action. 

This week, mense will get to the Section 2 competitiors in action as they go for gold. 

Fans can look forward to troupes putting their best foot forward in the following categories - Grand March Pass, Adult/Senior Sentimental, Female Sentimental, Juvenile Sentimental, English Combined Chorus and Afrikaans Moppie or Comic Song.

The troupes competing this weekend are ever-popular fan favourites: the Carnival Boys, Juvie Boy Entertainers, Manenberg Stars, Playaz Inc, West London All Stars and Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons.

Not to be forgotten, Section 1 troupes Baruch Entertainers and TV Stars will also compete with their outstanding items from Saturday 10 January 2026.

Come and experience the Kaap se most iconic show and so be sure not to miss out and sommer bring the whole family along.

Gates open at 10am and the competition starts at 1pm till 10.30pm.

  • If you need a little bit of Jesus in your life, then head over to Night of Grace on Friday at the Grand Arena in Grand West with a powerful word and worship led by Christ Culture Music. Tickets are free on Quicket and the show starts at 8pm.
  • WTF ( What The Friday) is at The Address with Wakanda, Oxy Naran, Cramford, DJ Ty, DJ Chebba, DJ Zeak and Warren Da Rocha on the 1s and 2s. Entry is R50 before 10pm and R100 thereafter. To book a table contact 0737588688.
  • Experience an unforgettable BMX show at the Kraaifontein BMX show on Saturday at Scottsdene Zoo Park where skateboarders and BMX will unite. All are welcome. The show kicks off at 1pm.
  • It’s South Side Saturday at The Address with music by Liam Cue, DJ Rollstoel, DJ Skara and Oxy Naran. Entry is free and the party starts at 9pm.
  • Utopia Cafe and Lounge is slowing things down this Sunday with live music by Jody Daniels, Craig Jordaan and John Williams. Entry is free and open to persons 21 years and older. The show starts at 7pm.
