TERROR erupted inside a Rugby clinic on Thursday afternoon when a young father who was on his way to pick up his children at a nearby school was gunned down in the street outside the facility, sending patients, mothers, and elderly mense scrambling for cover.

A patient who asked not to be named told the Daily Voice that when the gunshots were fired, mense rushed into the Albow Road Clinic, causing one staff member to sustain injuries due to the stampede.

The source explained: “People were screaming like it was the end of everybody’s life, while mothers and nurse were running with babies to the back. Some people were hiding in the toilets. Everyone was just trying to find a place to hide.

“Everyone was at the back of the day hospital, everything happened so fast. I don’t know where the elderly got the energy, but they motored.

“The shooting started outside the gate, but we weren’t aware that it moved down the road. After four minutes, an announcement was made that we could all calm down.”

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said that Milnerton police have registered a murder case for investigation.

Twigg reported: “Milnerton police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Thursday afternoon, 12 February 2026, at about 12:40, in Albow Street, Rugby, where a 35-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded.

“The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

“According to reports, the victim was walking in the street when a light blue Ford Fiesta stopped next to him. One of the occupants of the vehicle got out and opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.”

A Rugby resident, who asked not to be named for fear of victimisation, believes the killing may be gang-related. He said the victim had been fetching his children from school at the time of the shooting.

He said: “At the time, he was collecting his children. They will forever have the memory of their dad lying there. Do these people not have a heart?

“This is a father of young children who was with him. They will be traumatised for life.”

Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or to report anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application.
