Soccer star Casey Goliath,12 from Maitland has been scouted for an incredible opportunity to tour Sweden as part of LifeZone's Soccer International Under 14 girls football team.

The tour will take place between 20 June and 7 July and jong dames with an opportunity to develop their personal, social and sporting skills while learning about other cultures.

Casey plays for Norway Parks and said she has been playing soccer since the age of eight years

The confident meisie says: “What I enjoy about soccer is the teamwork, the challenge and the feeling of getting better every time I play. Soccer keeps me active, focused and allows me to learn new skills.

"I am super excited to go abroad, but also a little nervous because this is my first international trip and being away from my family. It is a big step as I will be the first person in my family to be on an airplane, but I am looking forward to it."

The cost to go on the trip is R28 000, excluding travel insurance, visa costs and passport fees. The family has been hosting fundraisers including raffles, selling food, functions and hosting breakfast events but has so far only managed to raise R18 500.

Proud mom Lezaan Goliath said that she has been contributing her own money towards the funds but it is not enough and is appealing for any assistance towards Casey’s trip.

Lezaan says: "Any contribution no matter how big or small will be deeply appreciated and the support will mean a lot to us.”
