There is a time for everything - a time to cry and a time to laugh.
Well, a couple’s proposal has been the laughing stock on social media recently, after a man decided to pop the question at a funeral while at the gravesite.
Turns out it was his girlfriend’s grandmother’s funeral.
People online were shocked when a video started going viral of a man proposing.
The two-minute video starts off with a man in a grey suit addressing the crowd saying: “I would like to quickly say something. I know I am still young but as a man I feel like when you find love you should cherish it. I would like to do something quick today.”
The man calls his girlfriend close and takes out a red ring box. He then goes down on one knee while his girlfriend stands in awe and then shakes her head saying yes.
Meanwhile the diebares can be heard cheering while others are shouting: “Dis net die Here” and “She doesn’t have a choice”.
The man then places the ring on her finger and the two hug, while the videographer pans over to the fresh grave saying: “By die graf. Ons bere iemand weg en hie’ kom mense wee’.”
The woman is heard saying, ‘yah’ and the pastor says: “This is history that just happened. I will never forget this day.” The pastor then continues to pray for the couple.
The video had mense reeling in shock with many content creators stitching the video and sharing their thoughts about the proposal.
Content creator, singer and songwriter, Anslin Gysman stitched the video and commented on the video titled ‘Till death do us part’.
However, the groom had something to say and commented: ”You know what hurts my heart the most is the fact that jokes are being made about it. I see nothing funny about it or bad about it.
”Anslin Gysman, it was her grandmother's funeral and the initiative I used to do it, I feel proud about it because I knew it would make her happy and she made me the happiest man.
”But then you get people like this wie anders wil afdruk just for [clout] and for the sake of followers. But thank you Godsman, God bless you too.”
However social media users did not hold back with their joke, as another content creator said there is a bigger meaning to the graveyard proposal.
One added: ”You are all missing the bigger picture, you need to think outside the box. There is a deeper meaning behind that proposal. Where did that man propose? At the graveyard right, so meaning till death do us part.”
Another user commented: “Sad tears binne in ‘n happy tears mengsel.”
The Daily Voice reached out to the groom for comment on Facebook but he did not respond by deadline.
